Boxing has lost one of its all-time greats. George Foreman, the former heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist, passed away on March 21, 2025, at the age of 76. He was surrounded by his family in his final moments.
Foreman’s impact on boxing was legendary. He first rose to fame by winning a gold medal in the 1968 Olympics, then went on to dominate the heavyweight division, becoming a two-time world champion. His knockout power was feared, and his fights against Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali remain some of the most famous in boxing history—especially his loss to Ali in the legendary “Rumble in the Jungle.”
But Foreman was more than just a fighter. After retiring, he became a successful businessman, most notably as the face of the George Foreman Grill, which sold over 100 million units worldwide. His personality, charm, and ability to reinvent himself made him an icon beyond boxing.
Foreman is survived by his wife, Mary Joan Martelly, and his 12 children. His legacy as a champion, entrepreneur, and family man will live on, inspiring future generations inside and outside the ring
