Auburn’s SEC Tournament run came to an end in the semifinals as they fell to Tennessee in rightone. The Tigers, who had been playing some of their best basketball late in the season, struggled to keep up with Tennessee’s defensive pressure in the second half. After falling down by as many as 12 points in the second half, Auburn couldn’t overcome key mistakes down the stretch allowing the Volunteers to punch their ticket to the SEC Championship game.
Led by Zakai Zeigler’s 20 point performance the Volunteers are heading back to the SEC Championship game for the first time since 2022. The Volunteers now wait the outcome of the Alabama vs Florida game to determine there championship game opponent.
As for Auburn they were the number one overall seed for the NCAA Tournament but following this loss that may change. The team will rest up for what is expected to be a deep tournament run.
