The Las Vegas Raiders have locked up Geno Smith as he and the team have agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $75 million, with incentives that could bring the total value up to $85.5 million. The deal includes $66.5 million guaranteed, showing just how much confidence the Raiders have in him moving forward.
Smith was traded from the Seattle Seahawks earlier this offseason in exchange for a 2025 third-round draft pick. He had one year left on his previous deal with Seattle, but the Raiders moved quickly to secure him long-term.
This move reunites Smith with former Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, who is now leading the Raiders. Their history together likely played a role in making this deal happen. Raiders GM John Spytek had mentioned just days ago that the team expected to get something done “fairly soon,” and they followed through.
Smith brings veteran leadership and consistency to a Raiders team that has struggled to find stability at the quarterback position. Now under contract through 2027, he’s expected to be the guy leading this offense for the next few years.
It’s a big step for a team looking to rebuild and compete again in the AFC.
