The New England Patriots are making moves to strengthen their offense and are trying to give quarterback Drake Maye every chance at succeeding in the NFL. The team has just signed veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a three-year, $69 million deal, with $26 million guaranteed. After spending time with the Vikings, Bills, and most recently the Texans, Diggs is set to bring his playmaking ability to Foxborough.
Diggs’ 2024 season was cut short due to an ACL tear, but reports say he’s ahead of schedule in his recovery. If he returns to form, the Patriots are getting a proven weapon—he posted six straight seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards before his injury. With second-year quarterback Drake Maye leading the offense, Diggs gives him an experienced and reliable target to lean on.
Former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has already spoken out on the signing, praising Diggs’ work ethic and ability to make big plays. The Patriots needed to add firepower to their receiving corps, and they’ve done just that. If Diggs stays healthy, he could be the missing piece to help New England compete in a tough AFC East.
Patriots fans have been waiting for a dynamic receiver to step up and now they have a veteran who will more likely then not, do just that.
